I didn’t choose any major de-clutter zones, but I did lots of little de-cluttering along the way (or else I just stuck a bunch of stuff somewhere out of sight so the people coming for our birthday party this weekend won’t see it) . There are a few things I’ve thrown away; other things I’ve just put away. Nothing major, though, so it feels like I haven’t done diddly.
I did wear a couple of “new” items from my over-packed closet. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a reason to get rid of more than one item (and that doesn’t really do a whole lot to de-clutter the closet in the scheme of things
) . I did move my long-sleeve shirts up to the attic; I’d like to avoid doing that, but for right now it frees up too much valuable space that makes it easier to see what’s there to wear. I’m still baby-steppin’ in the closet, but I promise there’ll be some GREAT before and after photos when I’m done (assuming that ever happens).
The dining room, I’m embarrassed to admit, has been less than a challenge. Adding to my embarrassment is the acknowledgment that I tossed two kids’ items from the dining room into the living room just to keep the dining room clean. Even more embarrassing is that I did this more than once. (I hope the kids didn’t see this
). I’ll try to be more “honest” with this habit next week.
Not crossing my legs is ALMOST a no-brainer. Maybe no brains at all next week!
I did a little better on the computer (sort-of) - at least I don’t recall any hours of time being swallowed up that I have nothing to show for. I even made my project chart and I plan to start using it on Monday (after the birthday party drama). I haven’t figured out how to take a Google document and put a picture of it here, but trust me - it’s a nice chart
.
As if I need a new challenge this week (doing only moderately well with all these others I’ve given myself), the new challenge . . . .drumroll please . . . is keeping the kitchen counters cleared. My husband is probably jumping up and down excitedly chanting that I’ve finally seen the error of my ways. You think it’s motivating to share your goals with an internet audience? Try sharing them with a husband that has been nagging fussing at yelling at BEGGING you to keep the counters clean since before you were born (okay, maybe not quite that long, but a long time, nonetheless). I cannot fail on this goal, or I’ll be ridiculed on a daily basis. Please, someone cross their fingers for me!
Well, that’s all I got for this week - I gotta run work on birthday party stuff - it’ll probably clutter up those kitchen counter tops and I’ll be behind before I’ve even started!
Thanks for all of your encouragement - find others participating in S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday over at Lara’s place.

Everyone has slow weeks so don’t feel bad. Making a little progress is better than no progress at all. At least you recognize the areas that are still challenging for you, that’s a good thing. I like the habit of keeping the counters cleared. I cleared mine of clutter before my mother in law visited and I think within a day the piles were right back. It really is a constant thing of maintenance, worse than keeping the table clear. Good luck this week!

Well, it sounds like you are doing the best you can and that should definitely be enough! Your habits sound great!
Good luck this week!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you too. This a hard one for me too.

You know, I spent my ENTIRE WEEK cleaning off my kitchen counters and I would not want you to see what they look like right now. A bit frustrating. I hope you have better luck than I’ve been having!

That’s too funny about the dining room. When I finally get a room cleaned, my kids know that for at LEAST a week or so, they better keep their stuff out of mom’s way.
Unfortunately, after a week, it kind of falls back to a more cluttered state again.
Good luck on the kitchen counters. I bet it will be so much more fun to cook with all the extra counter space.

[...] Dining Room (not kitchen) - pretty good if my kids would stop dropping their stuff in there! [...]
