I’ve spent a lot of time around my desk lately, tackling one project after another. First the shelves . . .

Then the junk drawer . . .

And now I’ve tackled the space underneath my desk taking it from this disorganized mess . . .

Is your head spinning, or is that just me? Whew! All this work AROUND and AROUND and AROUND my desk, and I can hardly see straight anymore. Oh! That’s because my desk is a complete wreck now!

Well, what did you think I was doing with all the stuff I cleaned off the shelves, out of the drawer, and out from underneath my desk? It HAD to go SOMEWHERE! Was I actually supposed to toss it or find a new home for it? Apparently, I didn’t get the memo on that.

In all honesty, I did manage to find new homes for some of the things that were parked on my desk in all of this process - like the little purple basket that was on my desk, then on my shelves, then in my drawer, and now you may notice it’s neatly parked underneath my desk with extra computer cables in it (Laura would be so proud of my successful containerization  ).

“But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks?” I actually found a little bit of extra space on the shelf under my desk! Don’t you worry - I’ll be able to fill it soon enough, I’m sure  . I left my file box out of the picture for the sake of letting you see how neat and tidy it all looks now. But I did put the lid on it to keep from pulling my hair out while my one-year-old tries to empty my files so it would look nice and neat.

I also managed to throw some things away that came to rest on my desk (shhhhhh . . . don’t tell my kids or my mother). Other things are still parked there waiting for the meter to expire or some small child to walk off with them  .

I AM planning to tackle my desk this week (and maybe one more drawer that could use a little work). But I also found this whole colony of dust bunnies living behind my computer tower under my desk (I envy all you laptop geeks out there). I figure that’s probably why it’s been running so slow lately - the bunnies are probably congregating inside the machine, multiplying like rabbits! Better to have bunnies in my computer than squirrels in the attic (I think?) !

I might as well make some great back-ups of stuff on my machine while I’m cleaning up my machine (my husband’s crash this week was a great reminder to do this). I’ve had two hard drives die in the course of twelve months, so you’d think I’d know better by now. I’m feeling a bit naked, now that you mention it!

So, I’ll put away and toss some more this week and then get out the screwdriver and vacuum cleaner to tackle the recently discovered mess under my desk. Then make some back-ups. If I’m not back here next week, you’ll know I couldn’t get it all back together (or the bunnies carried me off to their colony  ).
