There are times I fear the coming teenage years. Granted my oldest is only 7 (and 1/2, he keeps reminding me), there are days that his attitude and behavior make me
DREAD what he will be like at 12 or 13 (and it will be here before I know it!).
He’s at that age when testing the limits of disrespect and independence are considered fun, I’m convinced. I’m sure my shrieking back at him doesn’t really improve our communication skills.
Since this kind of behavior is Read the rest of this entry »

Before I tell you my tip for this week, I wanted to spread a little link love and suggest that you could find other ideas and tips over at the Carnival of Family Life.
Mom on Wheels is hosting this week, and there are over 80 entrants including one from
my archives.
O.k.. Find some time for you. That’s my tip. I could just end there, but Read the rest of this entry »

When I first saw the
Lunchables, Jr. advertised, I never thought I would ever purchase it. Convenience foods aren’t cheap, and I am awfully
frugal. Of course, I held onto the coupon I received at the check out just in case.
I.LOVE.THIS.PRODUCT. Just one use - that’s all it took for me to realize how many ways these could make my life a littler easier. Isn’t that what convenience foods are all about, anyway?

Normally, our family eats three meals together everyday (with the exception of the one who is attending school during lunch time). We usually don’t have any evening activities that interfere . . . until this last week. I was gone just about every.night.this.week!!! I hate that!
Things have suddenly gotten very hectic lately, and a part of me knows Read the rest of this entry »

Karen Beaumont takes a wonderful, fast-paced children’s game as her take-off for this fun rhyming story complete with mystery and lots of comically animated farm animals. “Duck, Duck, Goose! (A Coyote’s On The Loose!)” begins with the same words the game does, but it goes on to reveal that there is a coyote (that is completely covered by leaves such that only his eyes are visible) on the loose!
As the story progresses through several farm animals, children can pick up on the pattern of the rhyme and start guessing which animal will come next. In no time at all, Read the rest of this entry »

Do you like to be prepared? Do you worry about having enough matching plates and napkins for your child’s birthday party? If you’re like me, you end up buying almost twice what you need and have oodles of extra Bob The Builder napkins and paper plates.
I started putting the excessive extra napkins in with my Read the rest of this entry »

It all started today with needing to print 25 copies on cardstock. Our Sharp machine now refuses to spit the cardstock all the way into the paper tray, resulting in a paper jam. Additionally, it doesn’t really SUCK them in easily so the printing is too far up on the page.
No problem, I’ll use the other printer (the HP with the more expensive ink - but I’m on a mission here, so I don’t care). This printer also Read the rest of this entry »

My Monday Mommy Tip this week deals with making diaper changes easier.
If you have your diaper changing station in your nursery but you also have an older child still in diapers (no matter how much you wish she were potty training “for real” now), what do you do if your oldest has a poopy diaper while your youngest is napping?
I used to tip-toe quietly in the nursery and cross all my fingers that the baby wouldn’t wake up. It only took waking her up once for me to learn to have diaper changing supplies readily available elsewhere!
I already keep wipes by my desk in my office, but now I also keep diapers and pull-ups readily available. I’ll never have to tippy-toe into the nursery again!
What’s your great mommy tip? Head over to Mommy Community and see what other tips you can find at Monday Mommy Tip!

I’m a little bug-eyed getting this typed out - we’ve spent all week planning and preparing for my 5-year-old’s bug-themed birthday party this afternoon. It went great, and I’ll be posting lots of FUN, crafty ideas that we used at the party. But boy, am I pooped! Well, we still gotta’ eat this week: Read the rest of this entry »

Because I’m working frantically this weekend on the buggy birthday party we’re having tomorrow for my 5-year-old, I’m just giving a quick update on my SMART Habits. I haven’t done that in a while, and I just know you’ve been wondering about my progress
