With four children at the table for three meals a day, we HAVE to wipe off the table after each meal (or else the dog will lick if off - YUCK!).
When I’m lazy, I tend to just rake the crumbs onto the floor and let the dog do most of the clean-up. Unfortunately, he doesn’t eat fruit or vegetables
. Sometimes I make the effort to sweep the crumbs into my hand but lots still falls to the floor, so I think, “what’s the point?” (and feel less guilty about raking them onto the floor).
Even though we own a carpet cleaning company, that doesn’t meanwe have clean carpet (seems we are ALWAYS last on the list!). In fact, it doesn’t even mean we vacuum very often! But when I do break down and pull out the decrepit, falling-apart, barely-functioning vacuum cleaner, I notice that the dining room floor needs me to be less lazy when I’m wiping off the table
.
This morning, I decided to use the handy tray on my youngest’s clamp on high chair (that we have love, love, loved for the last 3 children!). I just raked all the food onto the tray, then all the crumbs were washed down the drain when I cleaned the tray! Easy! (I think the dining room carpet already looks better, but the dog doesn’t look very happy
.)

Ok, how easy is that? How come I never thought about it? Thanks.

Neat trick! I do not have little ones anymore so I do not have a high chair tray/table - but I guess I can use a serving tray or a cookie sheet. Thanks for sharing!

Marie:
You could probably use a dinner plate even! Or a skillet that you cooked in? Anything bigger than your hand would probably do!
