My husband, who I never would have expected to don a costume for a party, suggested that we go dressed up as a family to a Halloween party we were invited to attend last Friday. Not dressed up as a family, mind you, but all of the family dressed in some kind of coordinating costumes. He, of course, mentioned this Friday afternoon about 3 hours before the party was to begin.
Google saved him from my strangle-hold
. After {hours and hours} about 30 minutes of research, I came up with a quick and simple costume the whole family could participate in. We went dressed as crayons!
I scrambled around to everyone’s closets and drawers, finding a single color outfit for each person. With that accomplished, I found paper in matching colors to make our crayon tips out of. I wrapped the paper around, stapled it twice, taped it twice, hole-punched it twice, and taped in just the right length string to {insure choking} hold the tip on each little head in our family.
Just in case it wasn’t obvious what we were all dressed as, I printed out a “label” to tape onto each of our backs that said “Crayola.” Who wouldn’t be able to guess?
Hubby’s dull wardrobe left him as a blue crayon. When he told people we were dressed as crayons and that he was blue, many people told him to cheer up because it was a party. Hardy Har Har! Aren’t people so funny?
I don’t know why I didn’t take a picture of us - probably because I knew it wouldn’t look great with our outdated camera. Here’s all that’s left for the memory books!
No expense, and no sewing. That works for me! Do you know what you’re wearing for trick-or-treat? Pick a color and head over to Shannon’s for more Works for Me Wednesday ideas
