A Weekend Getaway

Hubby and the two boys are back from their cub scout family camp weekend. We girls stayed here and painted our finger nails, toe nails, and slathered ourselves in sweet-smelling lotion. While the boys were gone, we girls could graze and eat whenever we wanted - almost a vacation from cooking  . Oh well . . . back to reality! Read the rest of this entry »

A Second Look at Value

Do you ever feel like your life is bursting at the seams? And, not in a good way . . . that is where my life is right now - literally overflowing in all the wrong places - kids games, clothes (mine and the little people’s), unfinished projects, undone housework, unexpressed emotions, etc. Even my freezer is stuffed to overflowing!

We have so much stuff that we Read the rest of this entry »

Autumn is In The Air

I’m breaking from the dinosaurs this week to share a wonderful book inspired by the great fall weather we’re having. The Lonely Scarecrow by Tim Preston is a touching story about friendship and acceptance.

The scarecrow longs to befriend all the animals who live in his field, but his appearance is too scary for the animals to dare to come near him. As the wheat in the field grows, Read the rest of this entry »

What’s Left of Leftovers

I remember finishing dinner at a-friend-of-my-husband’s house, helping her clean up from dinner. She just put everything down the disposal. I was in shock! I couldn’t really say anything because I didn’t know her well enough.

Over the past several years, I’ve had several people tell me that they just can’t “do” leftovers. There have always been a variety of excuses reasons, but I consider myself Read the rest of this entry »

More of the Same

Did I mention that we had leftovers coming out our ears last week? We’ve gotten rid of a lot of the plastic in the fridge this week, but we still enjoyed a lot of leftovers!

Enjoy this week’s plan! Read the rest of this entry »

Exercise . . . At last

Well, I’ll admit it. I don’t like to put anything in writing that I’m not going to stick to. That means, I don’t put down a new habit unless I ALREADY KNOW I CAN AND WILL DO IT. Call me a cheater if you must, but I prefer “success junkie.”

Once I started taking Read the rest of this entry »

A Day Late, A Dinosaur Short

Yes, I said my book reviews would happen on Friday. Unfortunately, this week I didn’t plan in for the cub scout meeting on Friday night. I hope you haven’t been sitting at your computer waiting for this all day (yeah, right  ).

I know I reviewed a dinosaur book last week and one just last month, but I’m afraid that’s what I’ve got for you again this week. At least Read the rest of this entry »

WFMW - Non-Responsive 7-Year-Old

I recently mentioned that the teenage years frighten me. Some days it’s my 7-year-olds sassiness; other days it’s my 5-year-olds limit-testing; yet other days it’s my 3-year-olds charismatic personality that makes me think we’ll be beating off the boys with a stick (preferably a loaded one  ). Yes, I often fear the teenage years for a multitude of reasons.

But what about today? What do I do with my 7-year-old who Read the rest of this entry »

WFMW - Comments That Hurt

I’m fairly new to the blogging arena - just sort-of learning as I go. So if you have any suggestions . . . any great tips or websites . . . or some feedback about my site . . . ALL and ANY of these are appreciated.

While I’ve got your attention, I have a specific situation that I’d like some help with. Read the rest of this entry »

A Menu Plan That Grew

Don’t you hate when you spend a few minutes cleaning out your fridge and find things growing in the Tupperware containers in the back? No tellin’ what the contents once were, but they could be donated to a scientific study now.

I put leftovers on the menu plan just to avoid these less-than-appetizing discoveries. This last week, however, Read the rest of this entry »
