I love it when a menu comes together in such a way that I don’t spend most of my waking hours in the kitchen. I am in awe of many of you who do lots of cooking - I just don’t know how you get anything else done!
Here’s my plan for the week:
MONDAY
Lunch - Canned Lentil soup over brown rice, polska kielbasa, grape tomatoes, mandarin oranges
Dinner - Eat out with Grandaddy at Cici’s Pizza Read the rest of this entry »

A couple of weeks ago, my 5-year-old complained of a stomach ache as he was getting into bed. He’d only eaten 6 slices of pizza, 2 helpings of Alfredo noodles and 2 desserts at the Cici’s Pizza buffet!
Last night as we were eating at Cici’s again, he was asking for dessert. When my husband asked him if he would be able to eat that much more without getting another stomach ache, my son nodded his head and said, Read the rest of this entry »

Recently, our community built a neat new tennis center. The Parks and Rec department charges next to nothing for kids’ tennis lessons. But I think it’s really “tooky” to use tax-payers dollars to build this thing and then require membership dues to play there.
Well, I understood the dues after I went to the bathroom. You wouldn’t believe all the niceties and “girly” stuff that was provided - all in these nice little organizational wicker baskets that I’d love to stuff in my jacket and take home with me because they’re always just too darn expensive for me to justify buying some for myself.
One basket had shampoos and conditioners. Another basket had scented hand lotions, hand sanitizers, and contact lens solution. Then I saw the answer to my prayers Read the rest of this entry »

I am usually relieved when the Christmas break ends and my kids go back to school/preschool, but this time I was a bit sad to see them go. We had a really good vacation from all the normal running around we do on a daily basis, and I was disappointed to see all that come to an end this last week.
Well, vacation is over, so I guess I better get back to the Menu Plan Monday thing! Read the rest of this entry »

I recently received a couple of books from Sylvan Dell Publishing that I agreed to review (I’m always on the lookout for good children’s books). The mission of Sylvan Dell Publishing is to bring science and math to children through literature, so I was a little skeptical - I didn’t expect an educational book to have much entertainment value.
I was pleasantly surprised, however, by ‘Twas the Day Before Zoo Day Read the rest of this entry »

I was trying to catch up on some work for my “real” job the other night and it had gotten rather late. I was multi-tasking, which means I was probably getting less done that I should have been. Around 10 o’clock, I found myself making copies while filing a few papers (my least favorite task, next to grocery shopping). Suddenly, I heard the sound of trouble - paper getting jammed in the copier.
Now, this wasn’t just any paper. Read the rest of this entry »

Now that Christmas is over and done, my kids have given up on any snow this year. They don’t quite understand that December isn’t the coldest month of the year, especially here in the south!
We just don’t get that much snow here in Alabama, and it isn’t much even when we do! My oldest thinks it’s Read the rest of this entry »
