Before children, I had a very sticky brain. I could remember any phone number I dialed. For that matter, any phone number I’d said aloud, written down, or typed in! Today, I’m lucky if I remember the number long enough to get it dialed!

I was supposed to take my mother’s trash out the week after her knee surgery - I told her I would, but I completely forgot! I knew I could remember to go by her house on the way home from a meeting, but the railroad crossing was closed. Going a mile out of my way to get around the closure, I ended up on the street that leads right to my house. So, of course, I drove straight home - never thinking about her trash again. She was not happy with me.

I decided then that my brain had lost it’s sticky. Sad, but true. I just can’t remember ALL of the stuff that my brain has to process in a day (and my mother’s trash was not the most important thing I’d had to tend to all day  ).

I’ve decided I’ll resort to Post-It Notes - they are sticky! I put them on the door going out to the car; the bathroom mirror; the dashboard of the car; the refrigerator; and I’d put them on my children if I could get away with it (you know, something that says, “Take this child to Tae Kwon Do at 3 pm today” so I wouldn’t mistakingly take him to the 3:30 class  ).

Not only did I “remember” to take my mom’s trash out the next week, I remembered to start the slow cooker before 3 pm, my library books weren’t late, and I picked up diapers on the way home! I love my Post-Its - they might save my sanity!

Head over to Skittles’ place for more Heads or Tails fun!
