Y’all - we walked the streets for days selling this stuff and sold over $1350 worth of popcorn! I was happy just to achieve the $250 goal the pack set, but my son wanted the cool bow-and-arrow prize at a MUCH HIGHER prize level. I’m such an under-achiever
.
Anyhoo, we get this email TODAY from the scout master that they’d like to award my son with something special in the $50 price range at the Blue and Gold Awards Banquet THIS Friday night! Any ideas????
I asked my son, hypothetically, “If someone gave you $50 to go out and buy ANYTHING you wanted, what would you get?” He started describing this really cool remote-controlled helicopter he saw advertised on Nickelodeon or Noggin. Anybody have any idea what he’s talking about?
My hubby suggested a $50 gift card to Home Depot to help my son with all his upcoming projects. Yeah, right!
Solve this dilemma, and then head over to Rocks In My Dryer to help other poor souls on this BACKWARDS Works for Me Wednesday!

Seems the kids here in my part of Michigan enjoy gift cards, maybe from the local movie theathers? It could include popcorn and a drinks for maybe up to 4 kids? Or Best Buy, where they can get almost anything…Or Home Depot, where there are amazing projects for kids such as bird feeders to build,, art projects ect? Or maybe coupon books from good old McDonalds??? Or Red Robin, or somewhere they might go with his family thats on the cheap and easy level??? Just some thoughts

Do a bit of sneaky research, if you can. take him to toys r us or a local toy store just to “look”. See what he goes for.

My son was in cub scouts (and is now almost an eagle scout), so I can sympathize with you on the whole popcorn thing. Drove me crazy for years.
Anyway, his favorite gifts for selling were always gift cards, espcially to Wal Mart or somewhere where he could buy camping supplies and outdoor gear for scouts. You might think about some kind of scouting-related item that he might need, like a good sleeping bag, a tent, a cool headlamp, etc. My son enjoyed going to the store and picking stuff out on his own. Just a thought.

I don’t know which radio controlled helicopter he is talking about, but I think this radio controlled dragonfly is just the coolest thing ever! They have some other great toys at the Discovery Store, if that’s up his alley.
Wow, that is a lot of popcorn. Wow.

How about something he could enjoy with a few friends, like movie tickets or a gift card for Chuckie Cheese? That way it is something he can enjoy with friends and it makes for a special night out.
