Feeling a Little Green?

36

This week, Skittles’ Heads or Tails theme is anything green.

So in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I’m listing some craft and activity sites you can check out for all kinds of ideas to help you and your family celebrate this Irish holiday. You might even find some Easter ideas - that’s a pretty green holiday too! Enjoy!

Seven School Lunches

My oldest is not a picky eater, except when it comes to school lunches. Even though I have a new appreciation for school lunches (I didn’t have to cook it), he lacks that same feeling. Most days he and I put together something for lunch for him, and he’s not a big sandwich eater. So, we have to get a bit creative . . .

1. His favorite soup is Campbell’s Select Italian Wedding. I heat up a can & put some in his thermos (we, at home eat the rest), cut up some apple slices, a few baby carrots and some Ranch dressing dip (in a disposable plastic container, no less); add a cookie, and he’s all set!

2. We occasionally eat frozen pizza (the REALLY cheap kind) on Friday nights for our movie night. I usually cook a little extra, so I can send him to school with cold pizza, grape tomatoes, a banana, and some chocolate pudding. Read the rest of this entry »

P is for Post-Its

Before children, I had a very sticky brain. I could remember any phone number I dialed. For that matter, any phone number I’d said aloud, written down, or typed in! Today, I’m lucky if I remember the number long enough to get it dialed!

I was supposed to take my mother’s trash out the week after her knee surgery - I told her I would, but I completely forgot! I knew I could remember to go by her house on the way home from a meeting, but the railroad crossing was closed. Going a mile out of my way to get around the closure, I ended up on the street that leads right to my house. So, of course, I drove straight home - never thinking about her trash again. She was not happy with me.

I decided then that my brain Read the rest of this entry »

Heads or Tails - LAST

The LAST thing I have my 3 1/2-year-old do before getting in bed for her mid-day nap is to fetch a diaper. Now, she’s very fond of her new princess and Elmo panties, so she’s a bit reluctant to remove them (interpretation: this issue can lead to a major meltdown).

So, after she’s gone potty, here’s what I do: slide her underwear down, put on the diaper while she stands up, then slide the underwear and pants back up. Super-easy and she’s very pleased to get to sleep in her underwear (and I’m very pleased I won’t have to change the sheets after her nap  ).

What I really love (aside from less laundry) Read the rest of this entry »

Here’s What I HEARD

A couple of weeks ago, my 5-year-old complained of a stomach ache as he was getting into bed. He’d only eaten 6 slices of pizza, 2 helpings of Alfredo noodles and 2 desserts at the Cici’s Pizza buffet!

Last night as we were eating at Cici’s again, he was asking for dessert. When my husband asked him if he would be able to eat that much more without getting another stomach ache, my son nodded his head and said, Read the rest of this entry »

Bathroom Makeover

You might wonder what my bathroom makeover has to do with the Heads or Tails theme of anything in the sky or under the water this week

I could tie it in by saying that I wish the sky were the limit on our redecorating. After buying up the decorative items at Target today, I’m afraid it’s just our credit card balance that’s gone sky high!

And I think we can all use our imagination to think of Read the rest of this entry »

Heads Or Tails - THREE

Over at Skittles’ place, the theme for Heads or Tails today is Heads - THREE. I can think of LOTS of threes

1. Bad things usually come in 3s - most recently, we had squirrels AND mice in the attic, our heat pump broke, and we had to have a sewer line replaced.

2. Three is the number of times I usually have to repeat myself before shrieking my children will respond.

3. My 3rd child is currently 3 years old. Really, it’s all about Read the rest of this entry »

Heads Or Tails - MARKed Down!

The theme for Heads or Tails this week is Mark. I’m new to this, but I thought I’d play along. I’m relying on all you “regulars” to tell me if I’m doing this right . . . (tactfully, so as not to hurt my feelings, mind you  ).

I saw a K-mart associate loading two carts with Crayola Sidewalk Chalk and Paint products, so I meandered over to her to appease my curiosity. Sometimes curiosity kills the cat, Read the rest of this entry »
